Los Nuestro is a non-profit organization with a focus on renewable energy solutions, community advocacy, and public health. They have developed a project in which they provide water to communities that are not connected to PRASA, Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority.
By November 2021, there were more than 70,000 Puerto Rican families not connected to PRASA that lacked drinking water in their homes. Funded by Direct Relief, a humanitarian aid organization, Los Nuestros energized 25 community aqueducts throughout the island, impacting thousands of families.
One of the communities that Los Nuerstros has helped is the Anones barrio of Naranjito. They built Anones a community aqueduct powered by a robust solar system installed by Manage Energy Solution (MES)). The community then had access to drinking water when there was no electricity service.
The PV ground-mounted photovoltaic system consists of 23.7 kWdC in solar panels and has a 21.6 kwAC three-phase Outback inverter system. This system uses 4 Fortress Power eVault batteries totaling 74 kWh of energy storage.
Manage Energy Solutions has previously worked with Fortress Power are very satisfied with their batteries and their local technical support on the island. They chose to use 4 eVault batteries for this project because they required a robust battery with a 10 year warranty that has been proven in the Puerto Rico market.
“The importance of Por Los Nuestro and the community aqueduct project is that communities have access to potable water at all times, and we are proud to be a part of this,” said Omar Collazo, CEO and founder of Manage Energy Solution.
