Leverage rebates and incentives to reduce your cost to acquire backup power.
Power Up and Reduce Electricity Costs with a Home Battery

The 3CE Residential Battery Rebate Program helps solar and non-solar customers manage their energy consumption and save money by storing the power they generate during the day to cover electricity use after the sun goes down and the prices go up (“load shifting”). Adding battery backup can protect your home from outages and helps strengthen the electric grid. A battery will also reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
All residential 3CE customers are eligible for the program. Existing 3CE customers enrolled in a Net Energy Metering rate must switch to the Solar Billing Plan and will receive the higher rebate amount. Current Net Energy Metering customers are not eligible for a rebate if they remain on their Net Energy Metering contract.
How to Participate
Select a Fortress Power approved installer to install your system. The battery must be installed by a contractor licensed in California. 3CE recommends searching for solar installers in your area.
Certain Fortress Power systems are eligible for the program and must be paired with the Guardian Monitor to remit information back to the power supplier.
After the installation is complete, complete the application. You will also have to enroll in load-shift tracking software with 3CE partner Texture. Applications can take up to 45 days to process.
Once your system is operational and all eligibility requirements have been verified, 3CE will send you a check for your upfront incentive. Applications can take 45 days to be approved, and checks arrive 2-3 weeks afterwards. Combine that with the corresponding Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) to maximize your savings!
Program Benefits
Upfront incentives reduce the cost to you after installation. Customers with new installations can qualify for up to $7,8000 depending on the system size. Customers who retrofit their system or qualify for financial assistance can qualify for up $13,000.
3CE customers are encouraged to apply for additional rebates include those with PG&E, the Self Generation Incentive Program (SGIP), and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
You may also qualify for a Federal Tax Investment Credit (ITC). Consult with a tax advisor on eligibility requirements.
Unlike generators that run on fossil fuels, batteries are a cleaner, quieter option for powering your home during an outage. Keep powering your home on your own terms while helping to reduce air pollution and keep energy costs down.
How the Program Works Once Your System is Installed
System Monitoring
The battery storage system needs to be installed in a location with an internet service so 3CE can monitor your system. Use our Guardian Monitor & mobile app.
Battery Discharge
After your contractor installs your battery, set it up to discharge at least 50% daily between 4pm and 9pm. 3CE will never override your battery’s default battery backup reserve or storm watch settings.
Incentives
Participating customers receive an upfront incentive depending on the system size and other factors. After the application is approved, which can take 45 days, an incentive check will be mailed to you within 2-3 weeks.
