Leverage rebates and incentives to reduce your cost to acquire backup power.

Be Ready to Invest in Clean Energy & Support the Grid!

San Diego Community Power’s Solar Battery Savings Program is a customer-focused program designed to support single-family homeowners in our service territory who are ready to invest in clean energy and support the grid by installing solar and battery storage on their homes or complement an existing solar system with a new battery storage system.

The program provides two financial incentives for participating customers: an upfront incentive (in the form of a rebate) to minimize the initial cost of the battery system and a performance incentive for a daily dispatch of the battery to maximize benefits for the customer and the grid.

The performance incentive is based on the percentage of battery capacity that a participant dispatches to their home and/or to the grid during a preset window that aligns with the on-peak periods.

How to Participate

Find an Installer

Choose a contractor that has been approved and trained by Community Power, to market the Solar Battery Savings Program to customers.

Install Your System

Certain Fortress Power systems are eligible for the program and must be paired with the Guardian Monitor to remit information back to the power supplier.

Enroll in the Program

After the installation is complete, your contractor will submit the enrollment contract to SDCP. Applications are reviewed within 10 business days. The contractor handles 100% of the application process.

Get Paid!

Once your system is operational and all eligibility requirements have been verified, SDCP will issue a direct payment for the Upfront Battery Storage Incentive within two weeks of processing. Performance incentives are issued via check during the 1st quarter of the following year. Combine that with the corresponding Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC) to maximize your savings!

Program Benefits

Earn Upfront Incentives

Upfront incentives reduce the cost to you after installation. SDCP provides $350/kWh to $500/kWh, based on useable nameplate capacity, for new installations.

Earn Performance Incentives

Customers will also get incentives on an ongoing basis for energy they store from solar and discharge to the home and/or grid during the dispatch window, priced at $0.10/kWh.

Take Advantage of the Federal Tax Investment Credit (ITC)

You may also qualify for a Federal Tax Investment Credit (ITC). Consult with a tax advisor on eligibility requirements.

Contribute to a Cleaner Future

Unlike generators that run on fossil fuels, batteries are a cleaner, quieter option for powering your home during an outage. Keep powering your home on your own terms while helping to reduce air pollution and keep energy costs down.

How the Program Works Once Your System is Installed

System Monitoring

The battery storage system needs to be installed in a location with an internet service so SDCP can monitor your system. Use our Guardian Monitor & mobile app.

Battery Discharge

After your contractor installs your battery, set it up to discharge at least 50% daily between 4pm and 9pm. Discharging at that time allows you to earn higher credits for any excess battery power you send back to the grid.

Incentives

Participating customers receive an upfront incentive depending on the system size and other factors. After the application is approved, you will receive a check for the upfront incentive. Stay enrolled and you’ll also earn a yearly performance incentive based on kWh shared.
